Birding & Litter Clean-up at Midgley Bridge / Huckaby Trail - see registration link below.
Join Oak Creek Watershed Council and Northern Arizona Audubon Society on Sunday, April 23, at 7:30 am in the Midgley Bridge parking area. John Wilson, great young birder from NAU, will lead in finding birds while we gather trash. Jonathan Lutz and Nate Doseck will coordinate clean up effort.
We suggest carpooling and arriving early due to limited parking at the trailhead!
The day's program will combine spring birding with a litter clean-up along the popular Huckaby Trail. Participants will gain appreciation for the amazing diversity of birds, both resident and migratory, that call the Oak Creek “home,” while helping to keep the watershed free of litter. April is regarded as one of the BEST months to enjoy bird diversity on Oak Creek.
Volunteers are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear closed-toed shoes, bring water to stay hydrated, and arrive with positive energy! Depending on how much litter we encounter, we'll plan to conclude around 10:00 am. We'll return supplies, weigh and record the litter we collect, and pose for a group photo.
The event is free, but limited to 20 participants. Registration is required so we know how many bags, litter pickers, gloves, etc. to bring.
Northern Arizona Audubon Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization dedicated to engaging people in appreciating and protecting birds and the places they need.
